How can I help?
-
This consultation typically takes place over one-to-three sessions. During this time, I will take the opportunity to get to know you — what brings you in, your experiences, and any relevent history. We will work toward understanding the concerns you’re facing, and I will offer diagnostic insight to help make sense of these challenges, including the inherent strengths you already bring to the table. We will then explore treatment options that might be helpful for you: individual therapy, medication, or a combination of both. My goal is to collaborate with you on a plan that feels both practical and aligned with your values and priorities.

I offer both short-term and longer-term individual therapy, grounded in a psychodynamic approach. Sessions are typically 45 minutes and typically occur once-or-twice a week, depending on your priorities and preferences. My style is both trauma-informed and structured, with a focus on the therapeutic relationship. Together, we will explore how your past experiences, relationships, and patterns — even those outside of your conscious awareness but still in the room with us — may be influencing how you think, feel, and act today. My goal is to deepen insight, reduce emotional distress, and help you move toward your goals in life.

Medication can be a helpful part of mental health treatment — especially when used alongside therapy, exercise, sleep, nutrition, and socialization. While we know that medication is not the solution to every problem, I do believe it can help make the transition to meaningful change more manageable. Whether you are starting medication for the first time, wanting to make adjustments, or wanting to stop psychiatric medications, my approach is to focus on aligning medication treatment with your personal goals, priorities, and values. I do this by finding the lowest effective dose, minimizing side effects, and maximizing the benefits.

Mental health literacy is one of the most powerful tools to reduce stigma and promote wellness. I offer my services and expertise for presentations, workshops, and Q&A sessions uniquely tailored to you, your school, professional group, or community. I readily welcome any community or services that interact indirectly with the mental health system and are looking to deepen their understanding to better serve those with mental health challenges. My goal is to translate evidence-based medicine into practical, accessible, and easy-to-understand tools that empowers individuals and the communities that support them.

My clinical work is informed by ongoing engagement with research in trauma, stress-related disorders and their impact on mental wellbeing. My particular research is focused on complex trauma and how it impacts emerging adulthood. If you are interested in collaborating on research initiatives or in need of a consultation or a study clinician to help inform assessment tools, methodology, safety or diagnostic clarification within research protocols, I welcome you to reach out. Through collaborative research, I aim to bridge scientific inquiry with compassionate and thoughtful trauma-informed care.
